CONSISTENCY BRINGS EFFICIENCY
While I’m trying to keep a balance of work and pleasure, I also need to keep my newsletters flowing like the chocolate I spread on my Nanaimo bars — smooth and consistent.
I realize that if I don’t take the time to pull out some ideas from my file of ideas (this I talked about in my last newsletter), the holiday will consume me and then I’ll wonder where my newsletter is.
Here are a few “bits and bites” that I hope might inspire you to keep writing your newsletters even when you don’t think you have time.
A friend had said once that she found when she stopped writing her newsletters, her business slowed up and it was exactly then that she realized she wasn’t gaining any new clients and her income had plateaued. So, go and enjoy a cup of eggnog while you write.
Keeping consistent with writing your newsletters. With doing this, you’ll be building and also maintaining relationships with your readers. You’re keeping the readers engaged and they start to look forward to receiving and reading them.
As you write, you’re also creating a sense of familiarity and trust which eventually leads to strengthening these relationships over time. Your readers get to know you and might even have someone they know who might be interested in what you’re writing about to recommend you.
Don’t lose your motivation. When you lose motivation, this potentially can start snowballing in your business. It could lead to irregular postings which in turn could lead to you just writing lower quality content losing enthusiasm, potentially to lose readers which then leads to disengaged readers leading to missed opportunities….see the snow ball happening??
Add visuals to keep excitement. Putting pictures in takes a bit of the burden off since they give another added interest.
Have templates created so the work isn’t as much for you since you can just replicate, then copy and paste your ideas in each month with a few changes. Doing this also shows your branding which makes an easier read.
Keep a consistent “voice” in your writing. Make sure the writing sounds like you. When you see ideas you like from different sources, edit them to your own way of speaking. Make it yours.
Routines are good to create. This way your writing session doesn’t bog you down. If you break it up, your ideas will keep a better flow; the newsletter doesn’t have to be written all at once. Schedule a day or two to work on different sections. When you return to it the second day, your mind is fresh and creative juices flow easier.
